With NaNoWriMo wrapped up, I’m putting the novel I was writing on the back burner, so I can wrap up some other projects. Since the novel is going to take a lot longer than a month to finish, I want to get some smaller stories done.
Also, I’m going to add reviews of stories written by other authors. Maybe I’ll do this just in December and focus on free stories, to give you a chance to discover new authors. Us authors give away some of our stories for free, in the hopes to gain new readers. So I’m going to highlight some of those stories here.
‘Tis the season for giving, right?
I’ll start this off with one of my stories…
I edited this old short story of mine during NaNoWriMo to get my mind off the novel for a little bit, and I chose this story because it’s erotic horror (like the novel).
“Everybody Wants to be in the Movies” is now available for free at Smashwords, and it’s meant for readers 18 years and older, due to explicit descriptions of sex (and violence). I’ll keep this free until after the Oscars, on Feb. 22, 2015, as that has a nice feel to it, with the movie link.
Here’s the description of this story:
Dinner and a movie: it sounds like an ordinary date. But there’s nothing ordinary about this date.
Because it’s not just any movie, and not just any theater. Roman Holiday is one of Margaret’s favorite movies. And watching it with just her boyfriend, Jim, in an otherwise empty theater is exquisite. Dating the theater owner certainly has perks.
Then the movie has some technical difficulties, and Jim has to go and fix the problems.
That’s when the date moves even further away from the ordinary. For Margaret is trapped in the room. A new movie starts up. One that’s far different than Roman Holiday. One that shows Jim in a whole new light. He’s not only the director, but he takes an important role in the film. He portions out the movie, bit by bit, so that Margaret can only learn a little more at a time.
What the hell is Jim up to? Is this his idea of a sick joke? Or is he craving action in real life, and not just in a movie?
“Everybody Wants to be in the Movies” is an erotic horror short story (10,141 words) that contains explicit descriptions of sex and violence, a knife on a cutting board, sparkling wine in plastic cups, tiramisu, and amateur filmmaking.
