Prompt Poems: Chiming Clock and Stone

He threw
a book
at the
chiming clock,
for it
sounded out
every
fucking hour
since she
left him.

*****

In this
stone prison
he created
himself,
he knows
there is
a way out,
but can’t find it
yet.

  1. Such struggle felt in these, Gus. Fictional or not… Although, the knowledge of a way out leaves me hopeful. Your word pictures are some of my favorite MacGregor moments.

    • I heard an author once say that with all of his fiction, there’s at least a grain of truth to it. I bet that’s true of all fiction — since writers use their own feelings, perceptions, and experiences in their writing. Same with me 🙂 Thanks for saying these are among your favorite moments — these short poems are great to write.
