She Was a Mystery

She was a mystery
of sidelong glances
Hair in front of her eyes
Eyes daring rather than agreeing
Lips slightly parted
as if nearly saying something
but for some reason not
When she did speak
it was smoke curling around your ear
words getting to touch you
as you wished to touch her
She seemed more suited for the night
with more places to hide
Although you wished to meet her
in the bright spots of the day
see her more clearly
But that might’ve dispelled
some of her mystery
And she alone chooses
when to let her clues out.

  1. Mysterious and seductive. And ‘smoke curling around your ear’ – that’s a great line!

  2. You paint a picture so smoothly. Lovely imagery of the unknown yet you still give a clear view of this woman.

  3. This was wonderful to read. Perhaps, because I am man, I love all writes describing women as mysteries. There is an exciting feel to this, much like the women men struggle to understand. Bravo.

  4. AM…This is lovely.
But you know what! it drifts me to a picture of mine…where my face is half seen, lips parted in a smile and hair carelessly caressing my cheek….. ; ))
